By age & stage

A place made just for your child

From Seedlings to Cedars — five stages, each designed for how children actually grow.

Right truth · right way · right age

Seedlings

Birth – 2 years

The need

Infants learn through senses, routine, and trusted caregivers — not classroom teaching.

Our goal

A baby feels safe, loved, and happy at church; a parent worships in peace.

How we do it

Calm, clean, secure room; consistent caregivers; gentle songs and simple truths: "God loves you."

Sprouts

Ages 3 – 5

The need

Preschoolers learn by doing — moving, singing, painting, pretending — and form their first picture of God.

Our goal

A child knows God made them, loves them, is always near, and that Jesus is God's Son.

How we do it

Story-driven, hands-on, lots of movement and music; first prayers and first worship.

Saplings

Grades K – 2

The need

Restless, relational, literal, and beginning to read — they love stories and heroes.

Our goal

A child knows the gospel clearly, can begin reading the Bible, and is making first church friendships.

How we do it

Bible storytelling with one clear point, large group + small group, first Scripture memory.

Branches

Grades 3 – 5

The need

They start asking "why?" and "is it true?" — and can be lost early if bored or talked down to.

Our goal

A child can explain the gospel, navigate a Bible, pray with confidence, and is open to the Spirit.

How we do it

Real Bible teaching with depth, honest discussion, basic apologetics for kids, serving.

Cedars

Grade 6 · Preteens

The need

Tweens aren't big little-kids. Treated that way, they check out. They need identity and belonging.

Our goal

A preteen owns their faith, belongs to a peer community, is rooted in Scripture, and serves.

How we do it

A space of their own, discussion-based, real questions, leadership, and a strong bridge to youth.

Always well-staffed

Our adult-to-child ratios

We intentionally over-staff — beyond legal minimums — so every child is seen and safe.

Stage Age Target ratio
Seedlings Birth – 2 years 1 : 2 / 1 : 4
Sprouts Ages 3 – 5 1 : 5
Saplings Grades K – 2 1 : 6
Branches Grades 3 – 5 1 : 8
Cedars Grade 6 · Preteens 1 : 8

Ratios are benchmarked to local childcare standards and never exceeded — we cap a room before we stretch it.

The transition that's usually missed

"The Bridge" into youth ministry

Many kids drop out exactly when they move up from children's ministry. So we engineer the transition on purpose: Cedars meet the youth team beforehand, get a welcome night, and are paired with older-student buddies.

No child should fall through the gap between the garden and the next field.

Grade 6 → Youth

Celebrated as a milestone, never an afterthought.
